Food Access

Food access is the heart and soul of what we do here at Waltham Fields.

Through community partnerships and outreach we provide nutritious, seasonal produce for members of our community who otherwise might not have access to it.

Our programs offer both free and subsidized options, to eliminate as many

financial barriers to healthy food as possible.

Mobile Outreach Market

Our Mobile Outreach Market (MOM) brings organically grown farm produce into the community each week of the growing season. This program allows self identifying, low income residents to purchase a share of fresh vegetables for just $5. Centered in community and dignity, this program extends our food access mission to more neighbors in need.

Community Partnership

Produce Donation

Since its germination by an idealistic crew of gleaners in 1995, Waltham Fields Community Farm has distributed hundreds of thousands of pounds of organically grown produce within our local communities in collaboration with Boston Area Gleaners.
Our annual crop plans include production for these critical community partners:

VegRX Program

Our produce prescription program, which is full funded through grants and donations, is a means of providing fresh produce to patients who have been identified by health care providers as at risk for developing diet related illnesses. This farm share is free to participants and provides ample food for a family of four each week through our growing season. Each produce box
contains information(translated into Spanish and Haitian Creole) including a list of that week's vegetables, a recipe utilizing the produce, and tips for food storage and preparation.

We are deeply grateful to Charles River Community Health for their partnership, and our donors for making this nutrition program a reality for so many local families!
